LVHHN At-a-Glance
Based in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pa., Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN) comprises Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest and Interstate 78, Lehigh Valley Hospital—17th and Chew, Lehigh Valley Hospital—Muhlenberg, Lehigh Valley Health Services, the 400-member Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) and community health centers located in Bath, Bethlehem Township, Hamburg, Hellertown, Kutztown, Saucon Valley and Trexlertown.
The hospital’s three locations have a total of 984 licensed acute beds with a medical staff of more than 1,100 – more than 800 of them board certified, representing 95 specialties. LVHHN is the area’s largest employer with more than 9,500 employees – 2,334 of whom are registered nurses. LVHHN is designated a national Magnet hospital, the most prestigious recognition for nursing excellence in the country.
LVHHN is an advanced acute care hospital and is recognized for its accomplishments as a leading medical center and community-based health care institution. It serves as a regional referral center for trauma, burn and kidney and pancreas transplants.
Other specialty services at LVHHN include cardiac care, pediatric surgery, women’s health, neurosciences, psychiatry and mental health, orthopedics, pediatrics, pain management, chest pain alert, rehabilitation and occupational medicine, diabetes treatment and education, sleep disorders and wound healing.
As a not-for-profit organization, LVHHN contributed more than $127 million in fiscal year 2007 to the community in the form of free or discounted direct patient care, community-based prevention and education programs, professional and patient education and partnerships with local government, school districts and others.
